Performance Testing: Getting freeware to stack up to commercial tools

Not so sure about consolidation in load testing market. I rather got impression that Rational going to leave (partly) that market: looks like they are going to support only web protocols. Moreover, Mercury has probably larger share of market now then his main competitors altogether.

Probably open source tools is the only danger to Mercury profit and could cause them to be more flexible in licensing. Unfortunately all of them are far, far from stack...

Only claim for a stack I saw is coming from the Eclipse community: Eclipse
Test Performance Tools Platform Project
. Unfortunately I don't understand what really they have and will have in foreseen future. I was told that you can make some performance testing with that, but I don't see anything from their site... Looks rather like an internal web site of a big comapny (IBM?) than as an open source community...
